MISSION STATEMENT

New Chelsea Dems is a big-tent Democratic political club for people who believe local politics should be constructive, forward-looking, and focused on solving real problems.

Our mission is to bring neighbors into the political process, develop the next generation of Democratic leaders, advocate for our communities, and give members a meaningful voice in the decisions that shape our neighborhoods and our city.

We welcome renters and homeowners, working professionals and families, small business workers, transit riders, and longtime and newer New Yorkers alike. Our neighborhoods should remain open to the teachers, organizers, entrepreneurs, creatives, and young professionals who contribute to our communities and hope to build their lives here.

We believe in protecting what makes our neighborhoods special while planning for growth and making room for the people who will shape their future.

New Chelsea Dems will:

Bring neighbors together to develop ideas and advocate for solutions;
Engage in elections and make thoughtful, transparent endorsements;
Develop and support new Democratic leaders;
Connect members with elected officials and give decision-makers meaningful community feedback;
Operate transparently and fairly, with open debate and respect for differing views; and
Address the full range of challenges facing our neighborhoods rather than defining ourselves around a single issue.
